Sardinian textiles, Aldo Rossi

In the 1980s, the architect and designer Aldo Rossi discovered the tradition of Sardinian rugs. The technical manufacturing process and the looms themselves led him to collaborate with the Zeddiani textile cooperative. Together, they created a collection of rugs called ‘Tessiture Sarde’, which blends ancestral Sardinian craftsmanship with contemporary culture.
According to the architect, thanks to the technique, time was dissolved, ignored, obliterated. The image of Penelope weaving whilst waiting for Ulysses was now directly linked to postmodernist architecture.
The rugs measure approximately 300 cm by 190 cm
