Author Antonio Bonet
Location La Manga del Mar Menor, España
Year 1966

Casa Rubio is a project by Antonio Bonet, built in 1966 in La Manga del Mar Menor. The Mediterranean climate and the horizontal line of the coastline inspired the architect to create continuous interior spaces based on a square modular grid, forming sheltered patios. Situated on a narrow strip of coastline, the house overlooks the sea on one side and an inland lagoon on the other.
The house was constructed from modules covered with regular pyramids, lending a sense of verticality to the whole. Inside, these pyramids are clad in triangular ceramic tiles of various colours.
