Who is responsible for your data

What data we collect, and why
Comments. When you leave a comment on an article, we collect the comment content, your name, your email address, your IP address, and your browser’s user agent. This information is used to display your comment, identify you to other readers, and filter unwanted comments (via Akismet, see below). If you check “remember me,” a cookie stores your name and email so you don’t have to re-enter them on your next visit — it expires after one year.
Email subscription. If you subscribe to receive new posts by email, we collect your email address. This is kept for as long as you remain subscribed, and deleted as soon as you unsubscribe (an unsubscribe link is included in every email).
Audience measurement. This site uses Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) and Jetpack Stats to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, referring sites, device type). These tools set cookies. We are currently working on adding cookie consent controls to let you manage these preferences directly on the site; in the meantime, you can block these cookies through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
Spam filtering (Akismet). Comment content (text, email, IP address) is sent to Akismet, a service operated by Automattic, to detect spam before publication.
How long we keep your data
– Published comments: kept for as long as the related article remains online, unless you ask us to remove yours.
– Comments pending moderation or flagged as spam: deleted after 12 months.
– Subscription email addresses: kept until you unsubscribe.
– Audience measurement data: kept for a maximum of 14 months (Google Analytics’ default retention period), then deleted or anonymized automatically.
Who your data may be shared with
Some data passes through third-party providers necessary for the site to function:
– Automattic (publisher of Jetpack and Akismet, United States) — audience statistics, spam filtering.
– Google (Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager, United States) — audience statistics.
– Ex2 Inc. (hosting provider, Canada) — technical hosting of the website and its database.
These transfers outside the European Union are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, or the equivalent data protection framework in force for each provider.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to the processing of your personal data, as well as a right to data portability where applicable. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at info@sensesatlas.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in France, the CNIL — www.cnil.fr).
Cookies
This site uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to function (session, language preference), as well as the audience-measurement cookies described above. A dedicated cookie preference tool is planned; until then, you can manage cookies through your browser settings.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, admin access is protected against unauthorized login attempts, and regular backups are performed.
