The Hall of Nations was an exhibition hall inaugurated in New Delhi, India in 1972. Designed by Indian architect Raj Rewal and structurally engineered by Mahendra Raj. It was an integral part of the Pragati Maidan complex, built to celebrate 25 years of Indian independence. At the time, it was the world’s largest space-frame structure built in reinforced concrete.

The Moscow round house (or Bublik) was built in a difficult context of housing crisis in the USSR. The circular shape makes it an example of Khrushchyovka structure, different from the standardized and monotonous buildings of that time.
Centraal Beheer Office Building, Dutch Structuralism
Herman Hertzberger is a Dutch architect born in 1932 in Amsterdam. As a disciple of Aldo van Eyck, he was one of the main influences behind the Dutch structuralism movement. The project considered to be one of the most inspiring examples of the movement is the Centraal Beheer office building in Apeldoorn. It was designed as a sixty cubes workspace forming a single articulated unit.
Solaris, Tarkovsky
Solaris is a 1972 science fiction film based on Stanisław Lem’s novel of the same name (1961). It’s the third Tarkovsky movie and takes place in the near future. After the discovery of the planet Solaris, an ocean of protoplasmic matter, a scientific space station was built in order to communicate with this creature. Despite the various experiments on this form of intelligent life, no convincing results could be obtained.
